I had been an Art major in college originally, spending hours illustrating my poems and journals with my Rapidograph pens! Yet, ultimately, I was drawn to communicate in another domain, happily pursuing a 36-year career as a Speech/Language Pathologist (SLP) in local schools. Upon retirement, I was introduced to the Zentangle Method, and re-discovered my love of pen & ink illustration. I became determined to become a Certified Zentangle Teacher, a CZT— a dream I proudly realized in June 2017!
Since then, I have offered classes to Home, Health, & Hospice Staff and Volunteers, to local medical practices, to colleagues and friends. I am developing an artist-in-residence program for an elementary school to be provided this spring! I have created a variety of notecard collections (8) which combine my original designs with Zentangle patterns. I have done graphic designs for business logos and book cover illustrations.
Lastly, I create Spirit Mandalas R , which commemorate loved ones who have passed away. I create, with family members, symbols representative of their beloved, and then incorporate these into a mandala design. It is an enlightening, therapeutic, yet somber process for all involved that results in a beautiful memorial to someone much loved.
I am a mom, artist, NCC adjunct professor, greyhound and cat rescuer, house renovator, and a lover of coastal Maine.
